Rare Glimpse
My cracked, dry fingers stained with red iron oxide are snagging on my sweatshirt as I slide my arm through.
Weeks of finally laying flat at 3 or 4 a.m. after long evening studio sessions.
Skipping yoga- heartbreaking- and realizing it would be healing to stretch out my back after being hunched over my wheel, but also feeling that every early moment before work needs to be spent in the studio making, trimming, pulling handles, joining, cutting. Every motion is one step closer.
Hands aching to a point where I can no longer open a jar without assistance.
Glazing in the back of the garage, in the cold until my feet are frozen and thinking it’s probably only 1 a.m. Glancing up realizing that yes that is the sun rising.
Delirious, sore, unable to make decisions. Body and mind, beyond exhaustion.
Feeling drunk without a drop of alcohol- sleep deprivation. Should not be driving.
Welcome to the Behind the Scenes Tour of Flagstaff Open Studios, 2009.
