Dreaming of Simplicity

As I settle down with the thought of my expanding family, I find myself expanding our “stuff” as well. I’ll tell you, if you’re not careful, somebody is going to talk you into every gadget under the sun for these kids. Well while going through the mental checklist this morning, unable to get back to sleep, I found myself wrapped up in some sort of dichotomy daydream. I was simultaneously obsessed with all of the necessary baby items and also, one of my old favorite daydreams: Tumbleweed Tiny Houses.

Whenever I think about minimalism and my deep seeded desire for a simple life, I think about these houses, which somewhat resemble a tree house for adults. Tumbleweed houses are truly a work of art. They have immaculate design concepts and beautiful architecture. When I say tiny, I mean tiny. They start at something like 65 square feet. This includes your living room, bedroom, kitchen and bathroom. The design is simple and clean, every single thing that was included is visually appealing and serves at least one purpose.

If I strain myself really, really hard I can conjure a tiny fuzzy image of living in one of these houses, someday. Difficult as it is to imagine, when I actually get myself and family into this picture, I feel amazingly calm. Hopefully this dream will come true someday, probably not soon though. For now, I need to figure out where to put the baby swing.
