Landscape Interrupted
The Ultimate Goodness!!! I have been given the opportunity to curate an exhibition of photography at the Coconino Center for the Arts. The exhibition is titled Landscape Interrupted. For the past three years I have been thinking about putting a show together that concentrates on a new form of Landscape Photography. The idea behind Landscape Interrupted deals with the influence and change that happens within the landscape when we interact with the natural world.
We are holding a National Call for Entries and anyone working with photographic process may apply.
I am pleased to announce that William Jenkins, Professor at Arizona State University and former curator of the prolific and influential New Topographics exhibition will be the juror for the show. In the mid 1970's, Jenkins, along with the artists in the New Topographics changed the idea of landscape photography which was mostly built around utopian aesthetics to an approach that dealt with the social impact humans have upon the land.
In addition to the Call for Entries, Landscape Interrupted will display the work of Terry Falke from his book Observations in an Occupied Wilderness. We will also feature the photography of Joe Trevino and Susan Lynn Smith.
The deadline for the call is November 20th
