Google Does Art
Oops, Google did it again. You've heard of Google's Street View (some have even seen themselves on Street View, and are a better person for it), but Google is now advancing into the frontiers of virtual cultural enlightenment. Introducing: Art View! Also known as 'Google's Art project.'
Google says it has a number of a objectives that it's Art Project hopes to achieve; the technology monopoly hopes it's offering a an educational and insightful tool that is easily accessible and free. It also hopes to entice people to travel to these destinations of fine art while in the same token, serve as a virtual guide for those who are not able to afford to travel half way around the globe. I first learned of Google's Art Project while on my usual morning cruise of CNN. My initial reaction was honestly not that favorable, thinking that Google was cheapening a genuinely valuable experience as experiencing art in person. But low and behold, by the end of the segment, I felt I had only gotten a taste and now I do want to one day travel to explore art collections abroad. Add it to my bucket list.
What do you think of Google's advance into art exposure?
