Are you listening?
"Are you out there? Can you hear this?...
...I will write this down and then I will not be alone again..." -Dar Williams
Why do we write? Journal, blog? Is blogging just journaling gone live?
I think people journal to process. I was required to journal in art school, to process thoughts and ideas, to develop a voice. The same seminars I was required to journal for, I was supposed to be making work, creating images that spoke for themselves, without using words. Every Friday was a 6-8 hour critique, to sit and discuss. This was often an educational, lively, sometimes emotional, enriching experience. In every critique there seemed to be at least one who just loved to hear themselves talk. These people often had weak work, but tried to make up for it with lots and lots of bullsh*tting.
Is that what blogging is? Do we just love to hear ourselves talk? Blah, Blah, Blahg

I love to write - whether it's blogs, journals, articles - because I feel as if I'm writing to someone: my future self. Most of the journals I keep are logged that way, to give me a sense of who and what I have been through the years.
I know my memory will begin to slow lose its touch someday, so my writings will make up the gap.
I also hope that other people enjoy my writing! :)
