Falling in Love

It's 10pm, and I finally had to close my kitchen window. It's been open for the past 4 1/2 months. I'm snuggled on the couch, the kitty's warming my feet, and I'm drinking yet another cup of decaf- hi, my name's Whitney, and I'm a coffee addict- in a mug made by my boyfriend, no less. (It's no Robin Cadigan masterpiece, but I do what I can.) I'm a Teaching Assistant for a World Religion course at NAU (living the dream). Today campus was 40% short shorts, 40% scarfs and sweaters, and 20% pajamas. After class, I ran around Downtown in the almost rain with posters for the Berta Rojas, Colin Hay, and Old Blind Dogs shows. When I reached my car an hour later, my toes were cold. Like, really cold. I picked up a Pumpkin latte from Bookman's and headed to the Center to do the things they pay me for, at least that's what JT thinks ;) They still had the doors propped open in the back office, but it was almost too chilly.

Fall's coming, and I can't stop it. So I might as well go with it. I like to think of each new season in Flagstaff like a new relationship. At first, you're anxious and scared and sure it will never work out, then you get to know it a little bit and it's kind of exciting.

I'm ready for the leaves to change at Lockette Meadow. To bundle up at the ArtWalk and drink tea or cocoa. To watch through a foggy window at Rendevous while people shop for their loved ones. And I'm lucky enough to live in a city with four seasons that's beautiful year-round, so sometimes, I get to do all these things.

Happy Almost Fall, Flagstaff.
