It's Finally Here!
Flagstaff Open Studios!!
Presented by the Artists’ Coalition of Flagstaff, Flagstaff Open Studios is happening NOW- Saturday and Sunday, August 25-26 from 10am-5pm- at 44 locations around the greater Flagstaff area. 83 of Flagstaff’s finest artists will offer insight to their creative processes during the event by keeping their studio doors open both days, allowing the public to see how favorite local art is created. You'll find painting, photography, jewelry, ceramics, and so many other pretty things!
Admission is free!
A printed guide of participating studios is available at Coconino Center for the Arts (2300 N. Fort Valley Rd.), where Prelude Art Exhibition is open. The idea is to see artwork from the participating artists, then plan your self-guided studio tour.
Guides are also available at the Artists’ Coalition of Flagstaff Gallery (13 N. San Francisco St.) and the Visitor’s Center (1 E. Route 66) as well as at numerous galleries, hotels and other various locations around Flagstaff. An electronic guide is available on the Artists’ Coalition’s website: flagstaff-arts.org. It's interactive, and pretty fancy, if I do say so.
A lot of the artists are also selling work at their studios. This is a great opportunity to buy directly from the artists, which means they'll receive 100% for their work. Sometimes, you can buy a piece that the artist makes right in front of you. It puts a whole new light on "handmade".
This year, two local restaurants are also participating in the tour: Brandy's Restaurant on Cedar Ave. and Mountain Oasis on Aspen St. in Downtown Flagstaff. Now you can support locally owned businesses and artists at the same time!
The tour will last all day today and tomorrow (Saturday and Sunday). Hope to see you all out there!
