Getting in the Spooky Spirit



Feeling like you want to get in the Halloween spirit, need a place to show off your creative costume, or just want to do something festive and not dress up… Check out just SOME of the great events happening in Flagstaff, both this weekend and Halloween night…



Dusk to Dawn 3D- Dances for Halloween

 

Where: Coconino High School
When: Saturday- Sunday, October 27-28, 8:00pm-9:30pm
Cost:  $6/students, $8/general, $1 off if you wear a Halloween costume! (Tickets ONLY available at the door)


Canyon Movement Company presents "Dusk to Dawn 3D – More dances for Halloween with guests Velocity Dance Company. Using silk hanging from the rafters and other unique props, this noted dance company will present a lively, fun, and sometimes scary concert for everyone. 

Come see a collection of dances about the things that give you chills. A collaborative choreographic company, dances are created by individual choreographers in the group with story-telling woven into the dances, recounting nightmares and monsters hiding under your bed, living in an asylum, a mummy hanging from the ceiling, and eerie visions using advanced digital imaging! Incorporating youth dancers from Canyon Dance Academy, the poignant look at the serious as well as humorous side of things that scare us, will keep you buzzing about more than teen-age vampire love stories!




Celebraciones de la Gente: Day of the Dead Celebration



Where: Museum of Northern Arizona
When: Saturday- Sunday, October 27-28, 9:00 a.m. -5:00 p.m.
Cost:  $10/Adults (18-64), $9/Seniors (65+), $7/Adult Students (with ID), $6/Native American (10+) and Youth (10-17), Free/Children (ages 6 and under) and Members

The Museum comes to life for Dia de los Muertos or Day of the Dead, an ancient Mesoamerican holiday held throughout Mexico, Latin America, and the Southwest. 

More than a dozen Flagstaff families create ofrendas to display in the Museum's courtyard. Learn about Day of the Dead traditions and the role of Hispanics in northern Arizona's history.

Riordan Mansion Halloween Tours



Where: Riordan Mansion State Historic Park
When: Saturday- Monday, October 27-29, 7:00,8:00, & 9:00p.m.
Cost:  $10/per person (Not recommended for kids under 12)
Space is limited, so reservations are required. Reservations and information can be obtained by calling Riordan Mansion State Historic Park at (928) 779-4395 

Riordan Mansion State Park offers a special night time program during the week of Halloween every year.  This very popular guided tour is a storytelling session involving tales of the fantastic and the factual.  The historic Riordan Mansion makes a great backdrop for spinning yarns appropriate to the Halloween season.




City of Flagstaff Halloween Harvest


Where: Heritage Square/ Downtown Flagstaff
When: Wednesday, October 31(Halloween!) 4:00pm-7p.m.
Cost:  FREE!

Voted 2009’s Most Outstanding Community Event by AZ Parks and Recreation Association, festivities will include creepy carnival games, arts and crafts, a pumpkin patch, spooky music, fun library activities, and a freaky fashion show. Little ghouls should bring their Halloween bags and visit local businesses for candy on our Downtown Trick or Treat Trail.

Haunted tours of Historic Downtown will start at Heritage Square and will leave every ½ hour from 4:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. This is a safe and fun event for kids of all ages! There is plenty of parking at City Hall, Wheeler Park and the Phoenix parking lot.
